Communication

Communication communicates. Our apparently natural obsession with linguistic content is the instance of a more general attachment to amplifying whichever signals of belief happen to have percolated to ascendance in the times and places we find ourselves inhabiting. Plausibly: we do not communicate to acquire closure or certainty but to self-validate a human experience that seeks explanatory certainty that it never quite obtains. Your mileage may vary but a key point is that we are generally as ignorant of why we produce information as is that information blind to the endemic needs and axiomatic inconsistencies of its meaning-seeking authors.

Of course, emotional and material needs might be the human experience of an omnipresent unity and absence in adaptive complexity. They are two aspects of the same thing. Resembling a Buddhist concept of suffering, a sense of loss or isolation may just be an inevitable burden of existing. What may in the world itself be considered or described as entropy, incompleteness, indefinitely-extensible system introspection, learning and growth – this might all be the same entity. It could even be the kind of thing or class of entity that can never be directly gestured at or held in mind and easily articulated – a unifying property which manifests discontinuously as a globally-distributed absence.
Yes, there are causal chains, but there are also underlying unities and distributed, global (or general) system properties. It is not the singular or isolated instances and snapshots or transient (as incomplete) mappings and models that we should be concerned with; it is the recursively self-exponentiated continuum that they exist upon that truly matters.
This dynamical symmetry occurs in many places and, as a function of its intrinsic uncertainty and indeterminacy, can be interpreted in the function of mind and culture.
