Generative technology provides access to high-dimensional complexity while endlessly attentuating the signal and mechanism of control and certainty with which we seek to do so. This kind of balancing act is neither new nor of a dramatically different kind than previous technologies of cultural information and communications system self-propagation. The long tail of offset complexity and displaced consequence has become, and as though by stealth, the productive engine and self-replicating machinery that drives the accelerating change it is then tasked to interpret.
It is not difficult to understand the circularity of such a causal dynamic. The difficult thing to comprehend is that uncertainty holds the strategic center of gravity in more or less equal measure to the combined mass and density of a loss of control. Engaging this enigma represents a major challenge for the emerging planetary civilisation, such as it is.
The philosophical consequences may not concern us in our daily lives but we can hardly learn to successfully navigate such inordinate complexity if we are unwilling to consider the drift through combinatorial entropy that drives all if this accelerating technological change.
