“I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round…”
The 2024 US election is an interesting historical inflection point, quite clearly bordering on hysterical in some regards.
The fuel of both political continuity and change is stochastic difference, not unity – a tough pill to swallow. A simple enough concept and yet rendered as almost entirely unintelligible under currently ascendant institutional and cultural paradigms of thought.
It is the conspicuous absence of a binding unity that unites us all. Political competition is “simply” its formal, institutional and downstream socioaffective transduction.
Now, time to get the popcorn out of the microwave, sit down in front of the TV with a strong coffee and watch what really has become “the biggest show on Earth”. Fingers crossed for anything other than a globally catastrophic result.
