Belief is not anchored on facts any more than communication is grounded in truth. The primary function of any system of belief is the sustainably continuous tenure of that grammatical and idiomatic framework that the belief system embodies. The suggestion here is that systems of belief do not in effect belong to those who hold them so much as those who hold them belong to systems of belief. We are not the users of these moving frames of symbolic abstraction anywhere near so much as we are the transmission medium for their successful self-replication. It is quite a mischievous labyrinth that we inhabit that actively deceives us into believing that we are the prime movers and causal forces here when we are always and already the simple vessels, passive vessels and effective circulatory system for these complex layers of autonomously self-propagating cultural, ideological and technological information pattern and symmetry.
