Among other things, language structurally and cognitively (as much as culturally) predisposes us through its endemic decomposability towards disconnection and discontinuity as a mechanism through which it then sustainably and adaptively self-propagates. We are broken in and as an evolving communications system that requires this disconnect to assure the recurrence of a persistent source of generative entropy. Language (and linguistics) is no ontological skeleton key but we would do well to study it even if such narrative introspection internally hyper-inflates the unresolved logical mystery of our experience with meaning and significance. Sanity is not only related to, or on a continuum with, insanity – it is quite unwittingly infused by and existentially dependent upon it.
