AI Gold Rush

A literal gold rush moment, but let’s not kid ourselves about the good, the bad and the ugly of it all. The cadence is already beyond effective management: everyone is constantly playing catch up, and – if you read between the lines, this uncertainty is the kernel core of the value and utility of an integrated system of technical systems that is speciating apace. This itself is not new or surprising, but stochastic uncertainty as entropy being the driver of perceived value that it is in this context, it is all only going to become much more complex.

I’m not sure anyone would have ever invited Cassandra to a conference on sociotechnical evolution and the long-term arc and trajectory of human civilisation, but I am quite frankly filled with trepidation. Uncharted territory and here be dragons. Inarticulable uncertainty holds the high ground: it is precisely because there are so many ways to describe and understand this situation that we can not effectively regulate or control it. Entropy.
