The slow, recursive attenuation of literacy, numeracy, and general socio-affective competency is a contemporary instance of distributed entropic diffusion. This systemic informational metabolism leads to the kind of exasperated volatility and confusion that fuels partisan perseveration in political or ideological spheres.
While long, complex sentences may offer resistance to the automated flattening of language, they also provide entropy-rich prompts for language models. The recursive priming effect mentioned above is embedded within the introspective self-reference of this writing.
Some may question why such esoteric ideas are shared here. Writing and thinking in this manner—rooted in topological non-orientability as a method of communication—does not seek to defend a metaphysical principle or belief, as many do.
Certain things cannot be expressed through language. As Wittgenstein suggested, they can only be shown. Other things cannot be shown, but language can explain how someone might learn to show themselves, without linguistic mediation. This logic operates on the level of unmediated experience, a form of communication that does not easily ascend through language.
In any case, communicative anachronisms, often performative in nature, may actually reflect a shifting semantic field. That’s a key interest of mine.
