There is no more transparent manifestation of the many ways in which we wear our cultures and shared symbolic languages than that represented by the tattoo.  Every item of clothing, every nuance of speech, every spoken word, accent or familiar affectation and common idiom, perhaps even the processes and methods of thought themselves; all worn, adopted, adapted, inherited, celebrated and essential, living culture.
