Language is not simply a system for representing the world. It is an evolving structure of differences, repetitions and expectations through which what has happened changes what can meaningfully happen next. Meaning emerges through these relations, while recurring patterns become easier to reproduce and gradually acquire structure and significance. Every utterance therefore inherits a field of possibility, alters it, and leaves a differently weighted field for whatever follows.
The texts linked below pursue this structure through probability, communication, recurrence, historical convergence, systems theory and the deeper philosophical question of how possibility becomes organised into what actually happens and recurs.
