Artificial Intelligence is a strange concept. Strange because, while all the techniques and tools are undoubtedly powerful and provide impressive leverage across a broad spectrum of academic and professional domains (- impressive corporate marketing and PR campaigns notwithstanding -) the actual intelligence is still solidly located on the human side. At least until the possible arrival of AGI, authentic insight and creative decision-making are very likely bound to be anchored within the uniquely flexible perspicacity of human decision-makers; sentient decision-makers whose conceptual tool-sets are amplified by the technological tools, granted, but again – these are really just sophisticated tools and technologies, not the oft-hyped and promoted intelligence they are misrepresented as.
