The autocrat’s gambit is to create a vacuum between fact and fiction and there, in worlds and words of half-truth and twilight misrepresentation, to leverage this difference and there make for themselves a golden palace of power and lies. The amount of information and energy invested in obscuring the facts will eventually be measured in equal and opposite effect when the actual history is one day revealed.
The frightened, oppressed and catastrophically misinformed people of their nation will one day discover the crimes carried out in their name and their shame will be turned to anger and retribution against the oligarchs that as kleptocratic mobsters have for so long profited from the political, economic and unrepentant war crimes of their leaders. All dictators hide truth but none can hide from the truth that must eventually and inevitably find them all.

Indeed, an echo reverberating from an earlier era and yet I can not help but wonder what a world without fear might be like.
