The semi-autonomous self-propagation of fake news and disinformation suggests that cognitive hyper-extension in, through and as communications technologies is always and already biased towards the distribution of information over the quality or veracity of the content thus distributed. There is an asymmetry in the physics of complex information-processing systems and we are all, if quite inadvertently, swept along by it. As with genetics, we are not the owners of the information, we are the transmission medium, mere bit-players on this stage and it is in the lies of self-definition and self-determination we tell ourselves that it hides most effectively, masquerading as our own. This is the game that plays itself, through us.
