The most mystifying truth of all is that we live in a world that defines value and success in such limited terms, as being little more than successfully replicating the patterns and conventions of behaviour and thought that we encounter and through which we learn to play a game of simple (or – often enough – simplistic) survival and then, clinging to our hollow meanings and lists of names and notions we embellish them with depth and significance which really and generally only consists of the base machinery and grammar required to endlessly reproduce the whole rolling disaster of tribal ideology, adversarial politics and technological confusion that is humanity.
