Context: Watch This Caterpillar Turn Into A Puss Moth
Big picture: speciation, differentiation, radiation, change, growth – all instances of an underlying algorithm representing an optimally concise or (computational/logically) compressed method for the reproduction of an algorithm representing an optimally concise or compressed method for the reproduction of itself.
The instances are indeed beautiful but in being seduced as we generally are by aesthetics (or utility) on a spectrum from bacteria to galactic clusters we find ourselves and our intellects, as instances, drawn and plausibly misdirected – and perhaps quite naturally – to and by that which we ourselves are. If the logical principle of which all of these are instances is distributed across (and as) the entire hyper-surface of its component microcosms, as – that is – the undifferentiated unity of the system, then the instances in all their glorious diversity indicate embodied as hybrid or unified storage and processing of the same principle.
Sounds familiar? Evolution resonates with intelligence (ergo, technology), in both senses of expressing and (perhaps) culminating in this property of abstract compression. Evolution got here because it is everywhere. Intelligence, similarly. It takes a subtle inversion of perspective.
