Galaxies of Light: Civilisation, Entropy and the Blood-Dimmed Tide

Washington D.C. and friends, seen from the International Space Station

Civilisation is as easily unwound as it is woven and when the unweaving overtakes the making, when the diffuse entropy and structural disassembly outpaces the aggregate capacity for humanity to innovate fast enough, the world falls apart. It will take profound humanity, compassion and intellect to resolve the darker futures we are facing and being that there doesn’t appear to be any Divine being or Alien civilisation that is likely to intervene in our self-destructive theatre of absurdity, only the most powerful ideas will ever succeed in changing the course of humanity away from this darkness and towards the light.

The Second Coming
(By W.B. Yeats, excerpt)

“Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.”
