More Words

Language is both the tool and the trap. We imagine ourselves steering it toward justice, order, or truth, yet language is steering us toward whatever best ensures its own survival. Our systems—legal, political, bureaucratic, technological—do not simply operate in language; they operate for it. Every new term, policy, and narrative strengthens the structures of description that allow yet more language to be produced. Over time, what seems like the pursuit of meaning becomes a feedback loop of self-perpetuating articulation—sentences building scaffolds for their own continuation.

This is why every major political or institutional drama feels strangely familiar: it isn’t new content but the same grammatical engine at work, reproducing itself through us. The crisis, the reform, the reconciliation—each is another phase of linguistic metabolism, converting contradiction into discourse and discourse into continuity. What we call progress may be little more than the evolution of syntax—a tower of abstraction climbing skyward, elegant, recursive, and entirely self-sustaining.
