By all available evidence, nature has (as successfully as materially or logically plausible) resolved issues of optimal energy and information exploitation and recycling over billions of years of integrated testing, selection and development. There may even be implicit logical principles underlying the mathematical and physical regularities of the natural world which suggest that such optimisation is the naturally emergent (and evolved) state of things. It just may be that human beings will never be clever (or perhaps – motivated beyond pure self-interest) enough to collectively acknowledge and benefit from the symmetries and biases of information and energy flows as they already exist in the natural world and from which organisational, social and economic systems might extract near-endless benefit and value.
