Business Systems, “Best Practice” and Self-propagating Bureaucracy

Questions could (and should) be asked of the extent to which systems, architectures, models and programs can be (and are) produced for the primary self-interest of the organisations which provide those solutions. Bureaucracies and (all of) their diverse hierarchical predecessors, for instance, are classically-versed in the dark arts of creating systems and mechanisms that generate precisely the kinds of problems, turbulence and inertia to which those systems and mechanisms are themselves most gainfully applied. Analysis of explanations of proposed models and systems should always be accompanied by a sober application of “cui bono ?” Some narratives are clearly generated for the sole purpose of cultivating autonomously self-propagating media buzz from what commercial value they generate. They may rarely be actually useful.
