The relationship of new technologies with sustainable organisational learning and growth is not itself new. It’s a journey of adaptive sociotechnical integration that is as beneficial to consider in the strategic whole as it is mandatory to define and refine in the instrumental parts.
What is new is that non-linear effects are inevitable at scale. Questions regarding how best to orchestrate systemic emergence are problematised by a conspicuous absence of unifying certainty in explaining these complex dynamics.
An observation: the form and flow of accelerating technological change is such that orientations toward unbounded strategic complexity are not simply consequences of digital metamorphoses, they are deeply implicated as causal factors.
Complex communications systems at scale acquire a dynamical form and flow that recursively reproduces those systems. On a spectrum from competitive games and into the self-propagating wildfire of conflict, the technologies which percolate to ascendance tend to do so in ways that prime their environmental containers and transmission media for continuity.
Signals of self-amplifying uncertainty are in play.
