Education entrains cognition and interpretation around the prevailing epistemic attractor, supplying the distinctions, categories, methods, vocabularies and standards through which a world becomes intelligible, then returning those it has entrained to that same world, where they speak, work, classify, build, administer, research and teach through the patterns they have acquired, thereby helping to reproduce the conditions under which those patterns continue to appear coherent, useful and true. Education does not simply reproduce knowledge. It reproduces the conditions under which its knowledge remains intelligible, and in doing so continually sustains, modifies and partially validates the epistemic attractor around which it is centred.
This process is substantially linguistic. We acquire methods for making and breaking informational relations, usually without ever being explicitly taught what those methods are, and use them to reconstruct an apparently coherent world from radically abbreviated signals. Education formalises part of this process, stabilising enough of a moving epistemic field for its patterns to be transmitted between generations. Yet transmission is never exact: selection, compression, interpretation and recombination generate difference, and difference generates further possibility. The epistemic attractor persists not because it remains unchanged, but because enough of its structure survives these transformations to constrain what becomes intelligible next.
Technology now participates directly in this recursion. It does not merely mediate an existing epistemic field but generates novelty, optionality and combinatorial depth within it, producing new complexity while repeatedly presenting further technological intervention as the most obvious means of managing that complexity. Large language models make the recursion unusually visible: accumulated symbolic products become training material for systems producing further symbolic variation, which returns to the informational environment from which people and subsequent systems learn. Education consequently confronts an increasingly peculiar problem. It must stabilise knowledge sufficiently to transmit it while the machinery through which knowledge is produced, filtered and interpreted increasingly accelerates the movement of the epistemic attractor itself.

An epistemic attractor is not a body of knowledge or a consensus about reality, but the relational configuration around which ways of knowing, interpreting and acting become increasingly organised.
Convergence towards an attractor of this sort is a (common) natural, complex systems process: not at all mystical or metaphysical. Statistics, physics, logic, dynamics.
