Tautological System Dynamics

I wonder if we should be more concerned that fake news (as mis- and disinformation) exists, or that reality is so easily decoupled from our descriptions of it. It says quite a lot about the tautological dynamics of communication systems (of belief) that they are generally and only ever referentially anchored upon themselves.

Electromagnetic Vulnerability

Context: AI-Enabled Electromagnetic Warfare Systems On a general assumption that algorithmic complexity is primarily a transduction of mechanised conceptual logic into alternate (if perhaps inevitable) dimensions, vectored mathematical invocations and expressions of technical entropy; and, given that recursive self-entanglement is both a cause and consequence of intractable systemic (i.e. logical) incompleteness and material uncertainty, this […]

Entropy, Complexity, Algorithm, Identity

I dare say that wherever humanity does or does not find itself in regards to hyper-accelerating tech ological metamorphosis, this destination (or waypoint) will only ever be the most probable as manifest constellation of all possible artefacts, entities and systems in the world. I study holism. Ironically, you come to see it everywhere.

Sickly Sweet Insubstantiality: Generative AI in Popular Music

The music produced here is eminently forgettable, perhaps highlighting a bias of the attention economy towards confectionery-like superficiality. We’re being overwhelmed by a tide of short sharp bursts of information content that lack substantive value or meaning. As a kind of procedural “hollowing out” of ourselves and our diverse histories, this surely poses a risk to the preservation and sustainment […]

Entropic Respiration

For a system to persistently self-sustain, it has to negotiate and/or “exhale” its own waste products as entropy. Generating waste that is reusable by something or someone else is all but ubiquitous in biology. Human systems (and consequences, in a scaled, industrial and technological sense) might be uniquely distinguished by the volume, diversity and cadence […]

Not True

A critical nexus: the assumption of truth as the lowest-energy level or ground-state, system attractor and natural telos of communication. Such beliefs are credible, plausible and compelling but are mistaken. Communication systems are proxy organic entities, maximally-oriented towards the reproduction of themselves and seek to prime their own self-entangled transmission media for existential continuity. The […]

Semantic Morphology is Anamorphic

In a context of artificial intelligence and among many other complex issues of governance and control, we can effectively build the conceptual labyrinth of regulatory theory any way we choose to, unbounded from canonical dogma. Some technical dialects and definitions or descriptions will be more inequitable than others and this is the placeholder for an irreducible obligation and orientation towards […]

AI and Strategy

The relationship of new technologies with sustainable organisational learning and growth is not itself new. It’s a journey of adaptive sociotechnical integration that is as beneficial to consider in the strategic whole as it is mandatory to define and refine in the instrumental parts. What is new is that non-linear effects are inevitable at scale. […]

AI is Everywhere

AI is a concept. That concept is, or for all intents and purposes soon will be, everywhere. Cultural systems instruct us in the relational semantics of high-dimensional combinatorial depth without once ever having to complicate it in this way. This is because cultural systems do not copy the blueprint or source code of their contexts […]

Software

Software is a strange beast and yet now so ubiquitously endemic to our human world that we’ve all but become desensitised to its presence and its consequences, even as we struggle to manage dependencies, complexity, security and accelerating supercession. What I think we might be misunderstanding is that software is, much like ourselves, a transmission […]

Entropy Locking

Entropy locking describes the scenario where a system and its control mechanism become intricately intertwined with the entropy they produce, relying on an offset diffusion and complexity displacement for adaptive self-sustainment. The environment is simply another system in the most elementary symmetry or definition; a system/environment coupling or communications bridge resembles two systems, entangled with […]

Von Bertalanffy’s Cybernetic Entropy

Ludwig von Bertalanffy, a biologist and a pioneer of the General Systems Theory, discussed the concept of entropy in relation to system dynamics, particularly in large-scale systems. His views can be summarized as follows: Bertalanffy’s ideas were foundational in the development of systems theory, and his insights into the role of entropy in system dynamics […]
